IMPORTANT
November is a very busy month in terms of tourism for the island. Travelling to the island, accommodation bookings and rentals can get really tough and expensive if you don’t plan your trip long in advance. Our advice is to do it as soon as possible and not to wait the last moment to make all the bookings.

On-site transportation

Car rental
Given the diversity of landscapes and activities offered by the island, the car is the best way to enjoy it. A wide choice is offered to you upon you arrival at the Roland Garros airport with many rental compagnies, very known ones and local ones. Rentals can be per day or per kilometer, depending on your needs. Beware of the conditions imposed by the companies (be at least 23 years old, licence acquired for more than 2 years…). In view of the tourist affluence of November, it’s more prudent to book a vehicle before your arrival.

Line T will bring you from the Roland Garros (Saint-Denis) airport to Saint-Gilles-Les-Bains everyday from 5:15am to 9:58pm for 5€.
To access to the Village de Corail, the best stop is “Filaos St-Gilles”.
You can find all the routes and the maps on the Car Jaune website

Blacksheep Van Réunion

Other useful information

Weather
Reunion island is located on the South Hemisphere. Because of the proximity with the Tropic of Capricorn, it’s a tropical climate. Reduced by the ocean, the temperature on the coast varies between 18 and 31 °C. On the other hand, at altitude, it can fall to 4°C and seldom exceed 25 °C. The thermometer goes below zero in high mountain. And it’s raining often…

About health
The only real risks of Reunion Island are the sun, mosquitoes and sharks. There is no venemous animal on the island. The snakes that you will can see are not dangerous. On the other hand, if the little scorpions are not deadly, their sting is worse than a wasp sting. Also, some little spiders (bibes) in houses, bigger (babouks) outside, but they are not aggressive, and a giant centipede (called cent pieds), whose sting is painful.
