Official launch

Raid in France

Raid in France 2014, Volcanos to Camargue, was presented to the press and nature tourism actors on Monday 16th June at 9h30 in the ‘Conseil Général’ of the ‘Haute Loire’, Puy-en-Velay.

Race director, Pascal Bahuaud, along with multiple kayak world champion and head of water sports for the Raid, Gilles Zok, presented this edition which takes place from the 13th to 20th September between the ‘Haute-Loire’ and ‘le Grau-du-Roi’. The 580km course will travers exceptional wild sites thanks to all the hard work which has been put in by our organisers with regard to the regional and national parks, the Natura 2000 network, the local councils…. and private land owners. And also a partnership with the “Parc des Cévennes”.

A year of administrative tasks was necessary in order to offer competitors this out of the ordinary race in a rare and wild landscape. Raid in France relies on the local tourist offices who facilitate the contact with professionals involved on the technical side: equipment hire and sports professionals. Volunteers have also been working, since 2013, on partnerships with public bodies and private organisations.

All the above is necessary in order to run a race considered as one of the most demanding and spectacular in the world. A race which is also capable of offering the rhythm seeked by the top world teams as well as teams with less training who look to find a human and physical adventure course.
