Reconnoitre in real life conditions

From the 15th to the 22nd of July the organsiers will complete the 'reconnoitre' of the course route. The opportunity for Béatrice Lambert, Pascal Bahuaud, Gilles Lelièvre and Bruno Vinualès to validate their choice, to work out the average passing times and to verify the correct linking of the different activities.
The only hitch at present is the unusual low level snow line for this time of year.

The sport tenors

The Raid in France, as has already been said, is something of a 2 in 1 Raid, an adventure race newly conceived for both high level teams and enthusiastic amateurs.
Amongst the new 'top class' recrutes, we are happy to announce the entry of the Wilsa and Buff teams, who respectively finished in second and third place at the last ARWC world championships in Scotland. Two teams led by Karine Baillet, winner of the Raid Gauloises in 2002 and the titled spanish participant, Emma Rocca. Amongst the less well known teams there is Absolue Raid, made up of four young racers, who didn't hesitate in taking up the challenge - bravo!

Teams

At present, 15 teams have completed the entry procedures and formalities needed to participate in the Raid in France, two of which are foreign teams :The North Face (GB) and Eider Alpisport Liege (Belgium). On the french side, Les Arcs Queschua, d’Ertips, Sport 2000 Lafuma are alongside passionate amateurs who inspire us with their motivation, their communicative enthusiasm and their willingness to exceed on every possible occasion, namely Raid Lourdes Aventure (1 and 2), Raidicale...
Alongside these, a dozen other teams are finalising their inscription, one of which we are proud of is the Swedish team Lundhags, third in the last world championships. To summarise, events are looking good and our commitment is that a minimum of 25 teams will be present at the starting line in Lourdes on the 15th of September.

Raid In France, genuine values, athenticity, respect for others and ones environment

All of the racers, organisation members, volunteers and partners of the Raid in France will sign our “Back to Nature” Charter, a document giving one the means to live the event close to nature.
This Charter carries our ambitions and willingness to take into consideration the territories which we cross. It illustrates a certain number of obligations for the racers and organisers for example waste management and will reserve a surprise such as our futur booklet ‘Memories and the environment’.

The RIF spirit

Scheduled to be organised each year in a different region of France, the Raid in France renews the original spirit of the large raid expeditions. Placing the racers in command: of their capacity to manage their effort and sleep (non stop race without neutralisation); of their orientational abilities (gps forbidden); their ability to adapt to the terrain (very few control points); .......... all contributing towards the teams result. The time limits at the different control points will be lengthened to a maximum. Raid in France addresses itself as much to amateurs as to professional teams.
