Interview Vertical Dissidents

What is your ranking?
167th world ranking.

For what reasons do you want to participate in the World Championship?
We raced Raid in France in 2016, and loved the course. For us, that was the first race of this caliber. Back then, we wanted to experience how our bodies and minds would react to racing multiple days. We learned we love it, and that there’s still some potential to explore. So here we are, back for some racing this year!

How would you describe your team in three words?
Teamwork, silly jokes.

What is your wishing list for this year?
To enjoy the scenery of Reunion Island, to have fun, to work well together as a team and to get the best out of each other.

If you could choose one sportsman that represents the best your team spirit, who would it be?
No idea, we just want to have fun.

What is the motto or the philosophy of the team?
Don’t forget to laugh.

What is the funniest moment you experienced during your training or race?
Maarten got some serious chafing on his thigh during a 75h race, and was only able to continue if he walked like a cowboy. We then decided to copy his style of walking.

What is your guilty pleasure? The one thing you could hardly live without?
Sausage rolls!
