Aix les Bains Riviera des Alpes, an emotional setting

The Raid in France Top 7 are now known. Seven teams who have made it to the end of the entire course between Bourg Saint Maurice and Aix Les Bains. For two days, the Riviera des Alpes has been an emotional setting. The teams cross the finish line with lots of stories, anecdotes, wonders and frustrations. At the end of the afternoon there were still 24 teams progressing along the course.

For all the teams in the Raid in France, french leg of the Adventure Racing World Series, there is no identical story that is told. Plunged, for 4 to 6 days, in their bubble made up of four, their journey, their joy and their deception trace the same itinerary but tell a different story.

The Raid in France Top 7 descended the Isère on packraft as from Bourg Saint Maurice, crossed the High Tarentaise Valley, the Beaufortain and the Bauges on mountain bike or on foot, progressed on the Petit Aiguille des Glaciers, went down the Chéran Gorges, navigated on the Rhone river, the Savières Canal and the Lac du Bourget.

In total, 392 kilometres and 16000 metres of positive climb discovered in total autonomy and orientation, by different issues as in a journey towards the unknown.

Tomorrow, this 11th edition of Raid in France will say its goodbyes. The Northern Alps have fulfilled, impressioned and exhausted the participants. At present, 24 teams are still in contention. Keeping in mind the lateness of some, the organisation’s job is now to bring everyone left across the finish line. Especially as a terrible storm has just hit Aix Les Bains.
