FMR regained his win at European championships and Earned the French national title
FMR CSO came in Haute-Loire to regain his European title in Adventure races. Challenge made and beyond ; indeed, the team became, by the same occasion, French national Champion in mixed teams.
For all the teams, the night has been hard, due to the cold and the toughness of the track;
Lucie Croissant, Benjamin Coutant, Clément Coulon et Clément Valla are the official winners of this Rif Spirit, being the European and French national champions of adventure races. Since the start in Tence, on Saturday, they have covered 172km in 21hours56minutes. Their colleagues from FMR CSO 2, followed their lead and reached the finish line in second position, 47 minutes after. The podium is completed by AbsoluRaid-CapGanguise. This final ranking was challenged by the young team of Raidaventure.fr-Hiboux, that has figured in the Top 3 through all competition. Unfortunately, they were forced to withdraw, Fleury Houx, their captain, was feeling ill since several days and he couldn’t push it more.
« Raid in France, usually known for long races, was offering for the first time a 24h race. At first, we found the track and orienteering rather easy ; but through kilometers, the specificities of Raid in France kicked in again : technically challenging, mentally tough, and demanding. The last section of Trek, around Lavalette’s lake, has put us in difficulty, with some kites on each banks, some even being in the water ! Intensity was building up through the race ! » said Clément Valla, Team FMR CSO.
Feeling shared by Jaakko Mäkela, team captain for Multisport.fi, the Finnish team ranked 4. « It was tough ! The cold water, in the last section, was real ! We also did several mistaked orienteering, especially a big one next to Carry’s castle ».
On the French national championships, two titles were to gain : men and women teams.
For the men, XTTR63 O’Complet, finished in the lead, after a very competitive race. They have the 3rdtiming scratch.Gars Lactiques and Raidsaventure.fr – LT2R, completed the podium finish only 7 and 44 minutes after their leaders. Benoit Peyvel, originally from Bas en Basset – where was located TA5 – stated at Tence, after the race : « It’s funny to race at home, seeing places with a fresh eye, and even discovering some unknown territories !”
For the women category, 5 teams were competing for the title. Absolu Raid Alp won the race, finishing in 29h41
During those two days, Haute-Loire has shown some wild and genuinely wild environments, with some outstanding landscapes, coping 100% with the “Back to Nature” spirit of Raid in France. Gorges, “sucs” (hills) and forests of this trace, build an energetic race, forcing the teams to adjust and adapt to reach the finish line.
